Moving right along with my summer bucket list. This week I
tackled my sight word chants. I made these sticks last year. I got the idea
from Kathleen at Growing Kinders. However, I made the mistake of modge podging
over them and they all stuck together:(
Then I saw Katie’s post at Little Warriors about how she made
the same mistake! It made me feel a little better. :) I decided to follow her steps to re-do my sticks.
First I picked up a straw dispenser at Michaels (though I recently saw them on
clearance at Target!!) because she had the amazing idea of storing them in
there. I made sure to grab a blue one to match my room!
Then I picked up some colored craft sticks since I wasn’t up for
painting mine. (I’ve done a lot of painting on other projects which I will
hopefully be sharing with you soon!)
I printed Katie’s picture labels out and put them on the front of the sticks,
then printed Kathleen’s descriptions and affixed them to the back.
I bet you can guess which color I didn't use... |

I did not cover them with any kind of finish. For now it seems
as though the stickiness on the back of the labels is enough, but if they start
to wear and tear throughout the year I will reassess the situation.
Then it was time to cutesy up my straw holder. I picked up some
dog stickers (to match my theme!) at Michaels and randomly added them all over.
I love the final product!
I love the final product!
I also finished my Thanksgiving packet this week so I’m moving
right along crossing things off that to-do list!
I also made my self a set of green and blue alphabet posters to match my room and while I was at it, I made a grey and yellow set along with a bright set!
Anyone else get crazy satisfaction out of crossing things off a list??

The straw dispenser is such a brilliant idea for storing those sight word chants. I might have to borrow that idea! :)

I love your ABC posters. My room also has blues and greens. I'd love to buy a set. I have a request though. Is there any way you could send me an editable file, once I pay on Teachers Notebook? I would prefer that the letters line up better on the dotted lines. I know that's super picky, and I'd probably have to pick a boring font, but I feel like they should be printed the way I want my kids to write them. My e-mail address is morselw@vestavia.k12.al.us
ReplyDeletePlease let me know what you think. I love your blog, by the way. I'm your newest follower.

That came out great. Thanks for posting the pictures. BTW, I love crossing off lists too but I keep finding such great ideas that my list keeps growing: )
