Happy Easter!!!

I am getting the best Easter present today!!! Unexpectedly, my grammie called and said she is driving with my aunt, uncle and cousin from Michigan to Miami and will be near my house around 2 pm!!! For a girl with no family for over 1,000 miles this is the best news I could ever hear!! I am so excited I get to see them on Easter of all days!

This week we had to squeeze in our Easter fun since we only had four days and still had plant stuff to do!

My favorite activity was our stained glass eggs we made, they look so beautiful in the morning when the sun comes streaming in our windows:
The kids had a ton of fun putting them together too.
We also dyed eggs, which the kids loved:
Played chick addition:
Made eggs that turn into bunnies:
Spring adjectives:

And my very favorite thing that happened this week - we read "The Easter Egg" by Jan Brett. It's a really cute story if you haven't read it. Afterwards, my kids immediately (and unprompted!) started talking about the connections between Hoppi and Horton from Horton Hatches the Egg. I was floored! Text-To-Text connections - on their own!! Woo Hoo I must be doing something right!
So we compared and wrote about it:
Another favorite activity - we read "Easter Parade" which the kids liked well enough (after a lengthy discussion about what a bonnet actually is) but then they really got excited when I told them the book was actually written with lyrics from a song. So the second time we read the book, we looked at the pictures while we listened to the song. They LOVED this.
Listen to it here:

and Here's my Easter basket from Mr. Rosenblit!!
Hope everyone has an amazing Easter!!

We are gearing up for Insects! I've got our larvae ordered and hopefully they will be arriving soon so we can see the butterfly life cycle up close and personal! I made a journal for my students to record their observations, you can get it here for free.

We'll also be using the center work from my Going Buggy! Pack:
Freebies:
Chick Addition
Butterfly Life Cycle Journal
